I am Jo Harrison, a professional upcycler and furniture painter who restyles and upcycles old and much loved pieces of furniture, creating unique pieces which I sell through my website Reloved by Jo and from my new studio, Jolaru, set up with two friends in 2018.
I have a passion for upcycling vintage and preloved furniture and love everything about interiors and styling.
From sourcing furniture to prep, painting and styling, I adore it all taking pride in each project I work on. I source furniture from second hand stores, auctions, markets, online shops and through word of mouth. I choose each piece with care and appreciation of it’s condition, liking that all the pieces I work on have been owned and loved by someone else previously, it’s nice to own something with a little bit of history.
When it comes to painting furniture my style is ever evolving. I enjoy transforming the use of a piece of furniture, creating something unusual, a talking point for anyone who sees it. I paint in a style that’s classic and timeless and always take time to prep and prime before painting. Occasionally I come across a piece of furniture that is too beautiful to paint and I prefer to restore such pieces using wax, polish and a lot of TLC. As well as having a passion for furniture I’m qualified in interior design which has been a passion of mine for years, so choosing colours for furniture and pulling designs and accessories together is a pleasure for me and I am also happy to offer this service to you.
After building a good reputation in the North East, I now offer a nationwide delivery service so that clients in other areas of the UK can enjoy my unique furniture.
Recently, I have set up an artisan interiors studio with two colleagues offering restyled and bespoke furniture, interior design, creative workshops and home accessories; www.jolaru.co.uk
I hope you enjoy my furniture transformations as much as I enjoy creating them for you.
