A Fresh Chapter for Reloved by Jo!

I hope you've all been having a wonderful summer.

I recently managed to take some time out with a very dear friend, and I don't think you realise just how much you need a holiday until you actually take one. A week of laughter, delicious food, the odd cocktail (of course!), amazing live music and evenings spent at our favourite beach bar was exactly what I needed. I came home feeling refreshed, re-energised and ready for whatever comes next.

Despite taking a little time away, it's certainly been a year of change. Losing my dear Mum has been incredibly difficult, I've had another hand operation, and I've moved workshops once again. But if you know me, you'll know I don't stay still for long! The second half of the year is already shaping up to be an exciting one, with new opportunities, fresh ideas and plenty to look forward to.

Keeping Reloved fresh...

Reloved by Jo has now been transforming furniture for over 11 years, and during that time I've realised something. Just as our homes evolve, so do we. I certainly do! I've always loved reinventing furniture, but I'm equally passionate about helping people create homes they truly love.

Furniture commissions remain at the heart of my business, and I still enjoy every transformation, whether it's a treasured family piece or an unusual vintage find waiting for its second chance. You'll continue to see unique furniture for sale on my website, alongside the commission work that has become such a big part of Reloved by Jo.

A new opportunity...

Recently, however, an exciting opportunity presented itself.

I was invited to work alongside a builder on kitchen renovation projects, and while those plans are still developing, I was asked to transform a beautiful solid oak kitchen that had been carefully removed from another property and adapted to fit its new home.

It was a lovely kitchen with fantastic bones, but it was looking tired. Because it had been reconfigured to create both a kitchen and utility room, there was plenty of preparation needed first. Proud screws had to be sunk, holes filled, surfaces sanded and everything

carefully prepared before the painting could begin.

As always, preparation is everything.

Once the first coats of paint went on, the transformation really began. My customer had a wonderful eye for colour and wasn't afraid to be a little bolder, which made the whole project even more rewarding. She chose to keep the original hardware, which suited the style perfectly, and finished everything beautifully with a stunning marble worktop.

Working alongside builders was quite a change for me after so many hours spent quietly working alone in my workshop, but I thoroughly enjoyed being part of a larger home transformation.

Most importantly, my customer was delighted with the finished result.

"I was lucky enough to be introduced to Jo from Reloved by Jo whilst I was renovating my house in South Cerney.  I believe in upcycling so had purchased a second hand (good quality) kitchen that we reconfigured to fit the space available.  The paintwork was very tired so I asked Jo to do her magic and magic she performed.  From a somewhat tatty carcass, I now have a spectacular kitchen.  I had also bought some great leather chairs to go into the dining part of the kitchen - also in desperate need of a touch up.  Again Jo transformed them.   Thanks a million for all your help.

P"

This project confirmed something I'd been feeling for a while. Reloved by Jo has naturally grown beyond furniture alone. Alongside furniture commissions, I'll now be offering kitchen transformations throughout the Cotswolds, helping homeowners achieve a completely new look without the cost, disruption and waste of replacing a perfectly good kitchen.

It's an approach that's kinder to the planet, kinder to your budget and completely bespoke. Whether you'd like a timeless neutral kitchen or something full of colour and personality, the possibilities are almost endless. And if you'd like your dining table, chairs or dresser transformed to complement your new kitchen, I can help with that too. Just like furniture, businesses occasionally need refreshing too. This feels like the next exciting chapter for Reloved by Jo, and I can't wait to share more kitchen projects, furniture commissions and home transformations with you over the coming months.

For now, I'll let the photographs tell the story, from tired oak kitchen to a beautiful new space.

One door opens...

As the saying goes, when one door closes, another opens... and that certainly seems to be true.

Earlier this summer, I was asked to paint a client's porch and front door in a beautiful deep green. It's not the sort of project I would normally have taken on, but one opportunity led to another, and before long I found myself completing more on-site decorating projects for clients.

Working through the summer heat was certainly a challenge, but I loved every minute of it. There's something incredibly satisfying about transforming a space, and seeing the rich colour and flawless finish come to life was well worth the effort.

It makes me wonder where the next door will open...

With autumn just around the corner, it's the perfect time to start thinking about your next home project. Whether you're dreaming of a transformed kitchen or have a treasured piece of furniture waiting for a new lease of life, I'd love to help.

Enjoy the rest of the summer.
