A Decade of Upcycling Furniture & A New Business Venture

Hi everyone,

I hope the first few months of the year have been kind to you and your families, and that you’ve made time to enjoy the things you love.

For me, this is a milestone year—I've now been upcycling furniture professionally for 10 years. Reloved by Jo was created a decade ago, and while I should have been shouting about it from the rooftops, the anniversary made me pause and reflect on my life, and the direction I want to take from here.

A lot has changed over the years, and reaching this point has made me reconsider how I want to live and work going forward. Over the years, the two jobs that I have enjoyed the most have been working with furniture and working as an events coordinator, so I decided to combine the two! And here's what I came up with:

The Reloved Retreat

RESIDENTIAL FURNITURE UPCYCLING IN THE COTSWOLDS

A TRULY IMMERSIVE, CREATIVE & RELAXING RETREAT

Having recently moved from Somerset to the Cotswolds, preparing my home to receive guests and working in between times, has kept me busy for the last few weeks. It has been physically exhausting, however, it's also been rewarding, especially now that it's all coming together I am excited and pleased with the results.

If you would like more information about the residential workshops or would like to take a look at The Reloved Retreat, please click the link below. I'm still tweaking the info on the website, it's a work in progress with more photos to come.

I look forward to welcoming my first guests and sharing future stories with you which you can follow by clicking the link below and completing the subscription box.

Amazing Makeovers!

Whilst setting up The Reloved Retreat, I’ve also been working on some lovely pieces of furniture, some more modern pieces, and some with a French style. All are now for sale. Here are a few pics, but feel free to pop over to the website to see more details and more furniture - preloved and reloved.

My Mum and Alzheimer's

For those who know me and my family, you’ll know that my beautiful mum—always such a spirited character—now has Alzheimer's. It’s heartbreaking to watch someone who’s been so strong-minded, vibrant and full of character gradually become a shadow of herself. She’s still beautiful though, even more so in some ways as you see a vulnerable side to her. These days she’s gentler by nature, although I do love it when her fiery spirit still makes an appearance!

So when a friend asked me to join her on a charity hike to raise money for Alzheimer's, I didn’t hesitate. It’s only 13 miles, but every step counts. If you’re able to donate, please do—it means a lot. I have many friends going through similar journeys with their mums, and it feels good to be doing something positive and helpful. I’m also following in my daughter’s footsteps—she abseiled down the Spinnaker Tower two years ago for the same cause!

Here’s the link to donate - it would be truly appreciated. ❤

Time to Explore

On a lighter note, I’m absolutely loving life and work in the Cotswolds. The area is stunning, and the people are equally lovely. I’m still finding my way around, but with summer just around the corner and much of the hard work behind me, life is looking good. I have lots of exploring to do.

Pass It On...

I admire and respect anyone who runs their own business, it’s hard work. So in this section of my newsletter I give a ‘shout out’ to people I use or come across who I think will be of benefit to you. You may not need their skills or products at this moment in time, but keep their details, you never know when you will.

When searching the web for a company to make a house sign for The Reloved Retreat, I came across House Sign Solutions. With over 25 years in the business they know their stuff, and their signs are made in the UK, which is always great.

They were quick to respond to my questions, and helpful in supplying proofs. They delivered when they said they would and the quality of their work and price is excellent. I would highly recommend them.

Please Remember...

If you’d like to visit the workshop you’re most welcome, but please call or message prior to leaving home to see if I’m around, and to arrange a convenient time to visit.

I’m conveniently located between Cirencester and Swindon, within Braydon Manor Farm Works, Braydon, SN5 0AG.

And As Always, A Huge Thank You!

Thanks as always for being interested, sending photos, and keeping in touch. As a small business, your support and messages are truly appreciated.
