Embracing 60!

Hi Everyone, Well all of a sudden I’m 60! So, as you can imagine, there’s been a little celebration taking place. I’ve never been hung up about ‘big birthdays’, and I’m not going to start now, but it is a milestone birthday and does make you think. By the time we reach 60 we’ve all been on a journey which makes each of us unique. I’m no different. I like who I am and I’m proud of what I do. Running my own business, Reloved by Jo, is a big part of my identity and I thoroughly enjoy it, upcycling and restyling furniture from my workshop in Somerset gives me great pleasure and a sense of satisfaction. As well as being lucky enough to do a job I love, I'm blessed to have some amazing friends and a beautiful family who continue to inspire me every day. And when I’m not working, I fill my time with dancing, hiking or anything else that seems like fun. So here’s to all of the above, being happy and embracing 60! 🥂 Photo - Celebrating our birthdays, my lovely friend Jo who shares my birthday week. Back to work, here’s what’s been happing and what is coming up…

Makeover of the Month

It’s been a while since I last upcycled a Queen Anne style sideboard. In fact, the last one I worked on, I transformed into a double vanity unit. This is a good quality piece of furniture, originally made in Newcastle upon Tyne where I lived for nearly 20 years. It’s funny to think, it travelled south and came my way. I chose easy to live with colours of pale green, Fusion’s Bellwood, and a mix of neutrals for the door panels. The original hardware cleaned up beautifully. More photos and details on the website.

Paint Discounts!

Fusion’s new colours for 2023 are now in stock! If you like Farrow & Ball shades, you’ll love the muted and easy to live colours Fusion have introduced. By way of a celebration, I’m offering 10% off ALL Fusion products ordered in July. Use the code FUSION10 when checking out. Annabell Duke end of line products now have a discount of 20%. Use the code AD20 when checking out. When they’re gone, they’re gone. For locals, collection in person is welcomed.

Latest Commission

This large dressing table is a true example of how colour, and good workmanship, can truly change the look of a piece of furniture. It arrived looking very tired and worse for wear, with the remains of a white glossy finish, however, it was a nice solid piece of furniture with potential. My customer was brave enough to choose Fusion’s Manor Green along with some good quality brass hardware, which I’m sure you’ll agree were worth the investment. The antique brass and deep green really compliment each other. What a difference!

Workshops, One-to-One & Parties

I can easily accommodate workshops for large and small parties and enjoy inspiring and sharing my knowledge with budding up-cyclists. If you prefer the idea of a one-to-one, rather than sharing my attention with other workshop attendees and working on a project chosen for you, you can bring in a piece of your own furniture and I will take you through the various stages of upcycling to produce a professional-looking finish and a transformed piece of furniture. Upcycling painting parties can be arranged for those who want to organise a get-together, to celebrate a special event, or simply have fun with a few added bonuses. Remember, there’s 10% off all Fusion products bought on any of these days!

Pass it On!

I admire and respect anyone who runs their own business, it’s blooming hard work. So from now on, in this section of my newsletter I’d like to give a ‘shout out’ to people I use or come across who I think will be of benefit to you. You may not need their skills or products at this moment in time, but keep there details, you never know when you will. I couldn’t live my life without my music, Spotify and my MINIRIG speaker! It’s only small but the sound it throws out is incredible. The company are based in nearby Bristol and online. And, the MINIRIG is now available in some amazing new colours. Loving the deep green. 🖤

Life outside of work…

It’s been a month to celebrate, full of family, friends, dancing and walking.

Birthday girl, pre-party and time to party.

Bad hair day, dancing on Southsea pier and another 10 miles walked with the young Ramblers.

Remember…

If you’d like to visit the workshop to browse or buy and collect you’re most welcome. Please call prior to leaving home to arrange a time. You can’t miss me, I’m located in The Tractor Shed in Benter, BA3 5BJ.

And finally, a big thank you!
